Big Thunder Gold Mine, Keystone SD

This tour resulted into being a fabulous tour. Dan, the "Panner" and his dog were fantastic tour guides. Dan made us laugh with all of his corky information & tidbits. A must do tour if ever you are in Keystone, SD area. And did you know that Gold Fever is actually a fatal condition caused by having too much mercury in the blood resulting in high fevers then death!!!

World's Only Corn Palace, Mitchell, SD

Driving along the I-90 westbound, we encountered numerous signs announcing the world's ONLY corn palace. So we (and many more tourist) fell into the second biggest tourist trap of the USA (the first being South of the Border on I-95). However, we did get to experience the World's Only Corn Palace. It is basically a palace made out of corn!!

When you enter the palace, it's a big auditorium where they sell corn memorabilia!! We simply had to buy some postcards and a documentary book on how they built the palace!!! It will be great bed time reading, I am sure!!
