I entered a pumpkin competition with some classmates yesterday. I can't believe that we didn't win!

A date as been set.

School is almost finish and I am leaving for Gatineau, Quebec next Friday (November 6) to spent some time with dear old Mom and Dad before hiting the road. Aunt Betty will also be at Mom's to help me sew some curtains and pillows for a sewing contract tht I have pending with a restaurant in Old Quebec City.

As for school, we've decided (well it's more like I've decided) to finish up the DEP diploma on the road - the schoolboard offers this option and I am taking it!!! There was just still too much to do... and honestly, I've been more interested in surfing the internet on planning our itinerary and things to see/visit than schoolwork.

After spending some time in Gatineau... we would like to leave approx. the week of November 15. The goal is to be in New Jersey sometime during Thanksgiving week.

Walmart

If you have a Walmart within a 10 km radius from your home … this post is for you!

For all the times I been into the Walmart in Morristown, New Jersey, or in Gatineau, QC or yet in Quebec City… I never thought that one day I would miss a Walmart like I do now. Take yesterday morning for example, my "To Buy List" consisted of toilet paper, Mr. Clean, baby yarn (to start crocheting yet another baby blanket), some walnuts (to make the delicious Nantucket Cranberry Pie that Bidou adores), a birthday card and Bidou needed some mechanic stuff for CCTop. Therefore, my first thought was to go to Walmart. However, when you live in Abitibi, you have the choice between two Walmarts – there is one in Rouyn and the other in Val D'or. In other words, you need to plan a minimum of hour drive each way whenever you need basic household supplies. So basically we haven spent our entire Sunday shopping at Wallmart!!

So please every time you enter your local Wal-Mart (you know the one that when you leave home at 9 a.m. and you get back at 10 a.m.) please think about the people in Abitibi… because the people here can spend their entire Sundays just goings to Walmart to pick up some everyday stuff!

Camille as a baby!

When I adopted Camille she was a 8 month old puppy and was almost a full grown dog. So I never got to see my baby girl as a little pup. I found this picture on the internet and think that she might have looked just like that picture.

Regardless, we love her so much...kisskiss!!

Deadlines, Deadlines and Deadlines!!

Before buying CCTop and leaving for this crazy 2 year adventure, Bidou and I had an agreement. I needed to complete the DEP en secretariat before we could leave for good. Therefore, I can honestly say that since starting school in Abitibi on Aug. 17, I've been working hard trying to complete this course. Right now, my motto is "The faster I finish - The faster we can leave". And with the snow we had yesterday…. I have decided to draw up some personal and very tight deadlines.

Now mathematically speaking, it is impossible to complete this course at the end of October like I was hoping - well for me that is… if my genius husband Bidou would be taking this course… we would already be soaking up some rays on some great beach in Key West. There is just way too much material and workload for my pretty little brain to absorb. So my new deadline is November 13 and we leave on November 15.

At school, you write exams only on Thursday's and usually it's only 1 exam at the time. So, I have scheduled an exam every Thursday until the week ending November 13. Here is the list:

  • October 1 – Word avancé (that is the exam I did today)
  • October 8 – Réunion d'affaires
  • October 15 – Tâche comptable courante
  • October 22 – Éditique
  • October 29 – Loi du travail
  • November 5 – Productions de documents
  • November 12 – Révision de texte en Français

I am talking about 397 hours of school work crunched into 7 weeks. It is a lot… but I know I can do it. Go, Kouisse, Go!!!!

The other days!!!
